OpenStreetMap in Microsoft Bing

The project OpenStreetMap is one of the most interesting in recent times in the open source world, and seeks to provide an alternative developed by and for the user community that offers a series of maps that serve to map all kinds of scenarios, and between them, mapping services on the web.

Bing Maps and Google Maps were based on their own maps (Google uses its own satellites and mapping a few months ago, Bing uses NAVTEQ mapping), but if Microsoft has added the ability to use the OpenStreetMap mapping as an additional layer.

They explain in the Community Bing Blog, where we also reveal that users can search over the OSM layer, and once that layer is rendered users will find these maps options to return to that seen in any time.

An interesting story that demonstrates the power of this solution is open and community that can be harnessed and Bing Maps.
