GPSBabel is a free software to transfer routes, tracks, and waypoint data to and from consumer GPS units and converts GPS data from one format to another. Over 100 supported formats include GPX, Magellan and Garmin serial and USB protocols, Geocaching *.loc, Garmin Mapsource, and Magellan Mapsend. GPSBabel has released version 1.40. Most obvious change is in the interface, was created by using Qt for the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions.

New Interface of GPSBabel 1.4.0

Among the new features:

* Improved handling of extensions to the Garmin GPX, including ambient temperature, depth, biorhythmic indicators;
* Support module GDB files Garmin Basecamp;
* automatic detection of available serial ports;
* support for segments of tracks for various formats , including GPX;
* filter partitioning tracks into segments.

No documentation up yet for Version 1.40, but there’s online documentation for version 1.36 still available, and you can download a PDF manual for version 1.35 from scribd.com. Information about the new formats and features can be found at this link.
