Cogent3D, Inc., announces the iTune App store release of GISRoamâ„¢, a new iPad and iPhone application that allows the user to load, view, collect, search, edit and save ESRI GIS Shapefiles layers without conversions – with Google Maps as background.

The app is free – but to load shapefiles onto it a one time $19.95 fee for an account for the company’s WebConnect is required. That provides access to what appears to be cloud storage used for syncing – forever.

  • Use GPS to create new Polygon, Line, and Point features in new or existing Shapefiles
  • Synchronize all shapefiles between iPhone and desktop computer from any web browser. Works over WiFi or 3G networks (Subscription Required, available through in App Purchase).
  • Thousands of Shapefiles projections supported through standard .prj file
  • Edit existing attribution on Shapefiles and add new attributes to your data in the field
  • Perform powerful searches on features based on attribution
  • Display Large Shapefiles with small memory footprint
  • Displays current position based on GPS location
  • Edit and display by Shapefile layers
  • Google Earth provides background orientation maps

To download Cogent3D’s GISRoam, you need to have iTunes.
