I am looking for a free GPS Map of highways and roads that work in the Garmin Legend C? looking for a GPS map that works on my Garmin Legend C, that is detailed enough to allow for off the main road bicycle rides. I spent enough on the GPS without now spending money for a good map.

Is it possible to download Magellan 1200 gps map from the internet for free? Which portable GPS brands have FREE map updates??? I want to get a portable GPS for my care and I've been looking into which one to purchase for a while. One thing that's going to influence my decision a lot is whether or not you can get FREE updates for the maps! I know some brands/versions of GPS devices you have to pay to get the newest map versions as time goes on and they become outdated and I'd rather avoid that if I could. So far the only one I know if that has free updates is the Cobra 2100 GPS which I'm VERY highly considering purchasing. But I was curious as to whether or not anyone knows of other GOOD gps units that also have FREE updates. Thanks!!

Free GPS Computer Mapping Software? I have a TomTom One 3rd Ed. GPS system. Is there any free software for my computer that lets me plot out points on a map and works with the GPS? Is there anywhere to find GPS map data (for Italy) for free? A friend is traveling to Italy this summer and is looking for map data for his Garmin e330. Garmin charges $300 for the data, which incidentally is the same amount he paid for the ACTUAL UNIT, including the North American data. Needless to say, that price is ridiculous, so I'm hoping for a lower-priced option. Note: We're looking for data that can be uploaded onto the Garmin device. Does Blackberry Maps use the network or is it just free like normal GPS? I have Cingular and they want me to use TeleNav GPS, which costs money. I want to create a Google Map and Upload it to my Magellan GPS. I also want to distribute that map (free)? The software that comes with the GPS device is pretty basic. It seems like it only has major highways on it. The route I am creating is part on-road part off-road. National Geographic provides TOPO maps but they are expensive and really don’t fill the bill either since I need streets in my map occasionally. With Google maps (or Yahoo maps for that matter) I could use the satellite imagery to help me create the route, but then I want to upload the finished route to my GPS. It would be a plus if I could then post the route I make on a website. The GPS is a Magellan Triton 500, if that makes any difference. I am reluctant to spend another couple of hundred on software packages only to find they don’t help. I've used Google Earth too, but again don't want to get into the premium service. There has to be a way to create this easily without spending more than time.
